Marske Choir in 1891!
The archives in Northallerton include a copy of the programme for a concert held in the church in September 18911. The performers included Harold Hutton, Esq. (aged 19) and Miss L Hutton (presumably Aldyth Lorna, aged 14 at the time) children of John Timothy D’Arcy Hutton II), Mrs Vesey (wife of the rector), and Mr Ransford. Mr Ransford was residing at Marske Hall at the time as an unauthorised sub-tenant of the soon-to-be bankrupt Mr Mosenthal (see page on Marske Hall). It is interesting to speculate how his reading of “A murder by Westminster Bridge” would have been heard by the Hutton family.
